So, I will confess. The sole reason for the creation of this account is to create another venue along which I will promote my mixes and let you all know where it's at.
EDIT: My scanner has also started working, and if I can find my blackbook, I'll post what I've got in there.
As it stands, there are 11 mixes available for download from my website (actually someone else's website, he just hosts the mixes). There are two series' of mixes running here.
The Sessions are the main venture. These generally showcase electronic dance music, upbeat, tons o' fun, unspeakably danceable.
For the more...shall we say...[bad pun]deviant[/bad pun] there are the Excursions. You all have an art piece where you really feel like you gave it your all. Blood, sweat and tears ensued and when you were finished you stepped back and realized how great you are at what you do. Well, that's what the excursions are to me. These are not dance music at all, but rather an audio experience in and of themselves. The playlists are not drawn on the basis of genre or association, but on the "vibe" of the tracks. I have been a long-time believer in the spiritual potential of music, and that a well-made track, no matter who it's by, is an acoustic manifestation of the artist's "energy" at the time of composition. It has been noted by some that the excursions are essentially an extension of myself. I ask you only to listen to the Excursions with an open mind, and to lay your expectations to rest as to what an EDM mix should be. Whether you favor trance or trip-hop, house or hard rock, I believe that everyone can walk away from listening to these with something resonating inside of them.
So those are the mixes. Now to the real meat.
I. Need. Coverart.
I'm working on beginning distribution of my mixes. CDs, gapless playback, jewel cases, the whole shebang. 50 copies of each mix. For starters. 3 of the mixes currently have coverart. These are excursion01, session05, and session07. The rest are completely untouched. This is where you guys can all pitch in.
Go to my webspace. Download the mixes and listen to them. Then get back to me if you'd like to do coverart for them. I don't care what medium you use, so long as you can give me some idea as to why what you've created matches the mix you selected. The reason for this is the same reason I'm not designing the covers myself. I mix the sets, so I inherently am going to have a different idea of the music than the listener. And the listener is the most important factor here. I need artists that can turn that idea into an image.
'nam sain? Good. If you still don't have a reason to contribute, just know that thousands of people will see your work, and I'm not just talking about an online community. Snap into RL, people. This is what it's all about. At least a thousand people will see physical copies of your work on these covers, more in a few days, provided networking works the way I think it will. Which it will.
Post any feedback you have on the mixes here under comments. To talk about art submissions, email me directly at unstoppable.beretta@gmail.com
Thank you!
UPDATE: Midnight Sessions Volume 09 is available for download! Two parts. Both are the same central tracklist, but Underdog is my first venture into sampling/production. Overlord has no samples, and is much more straightforward.
